Welcome to the Mersey Monitor

The Mersey Monitor is a small, independent newsroom focused on accountability, local decision-making and the systems that shape everyday life across Merseyside.

The Monitor exists to make sense of how power operates locally, from council decisions and planning policies to housing, services and public spending, and to explain those processes clearly.

You won’t find paywalls, clickbait or performative rows here. Everything we publish is open to read because access to local information shouldn’t depend on your ability to pay.

The aim is very simple: fact-led reporting that helps people understand what’s happening in our area, why it matters, and how decisions made affect our lives.

If you think what we’re doing matters, and you’re in a position to help keep it going, then it would be great if you do feel able to contribute.

Whether you’d like to get involved, have ideas for stories we should be looking at, or just by taking the time to read, we’d love you to be a part of what we’re doing here at the Monitor.

We don’t do rich backers or shareholders here, we’re entirely funded by our readers so if you like what we’re doing and could stretch for a small donation, you’d be helping to keep the Monitor sustainable.

If you want to get in touch you can email us in confidence at themerseymonitor@outlook.com or call 07442 402 023.

If you have any queries, issues or complaints about anything we’ve written please do get in touch too.

If you’d like donate to the Mersey Monitor, we’d be very grateful for your support and you can do that by clicking here: https://www.merseymonitor.com/#/portal/support

You can also set up a regular donation here:

We have set the donation page so that we aren’t notified of who has donated, this is to help safeguard editorial independence, but also means we can’t individually thank you for your contributions to help keep the Monitor sustainable. Please know your support means a lot, we appreciate you helping sustain local public interest journalism and helping to ensure free access to all.

We work in line with and adhere to the IMPRESS code of conduct, which can be found here.

We believe it’s important that journalism has checks and balances and aim to sign up to an independent press regulator as soon as is practical.

If you have any complaints or queries about any of our stories please get in touch with us at themerseymonitor@outlook.com
